Lynnwood Development Photos: December 2013 Part 2

Homewood Suites by Hilton, Lynnwood, WA

The following photos are of three different project sites in Lynnwood. All photos were taken on December 16, 2013. The projects shown here are:

  • Chick-fil-A Lynnwood
  • Lynnwood Place
  • Homewood Suites by Hilton Seattle/Lynnwood

Chick-fil-A Lynnwood
3000 Block 196th St SW

This project involves building a 4,350 sq. ft. Chick-fil-A, with nearly 50 parking spots and a drive-thru at the southwest corner of 196th St SW & 3000 Block W, near a Lowe’s. The current site has a small portion of the Lowe’s parking lot, and a small building containing Active Electric at 3108 196th St SW. The small building will be demolished, and the entire site regraded.

Currently there are no Chick-fil-A locations in Washington. The project has generated controversy, due to Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy’s public and publicized opposition to same-sex marriage, and the company’s socially conservative aspects.

The small building to be demolished, looking south.

The small sign next to the entrance says “Not an Eagle Entrance – Active Elect. Customers Only – Dead End No Turn-Around”. The Lowe’s was formerly an Eagle Hardware & Garden, a chain of large home improvement stores which Lowe’s bought.

The following photos show the current parking lot area to be redeveloped:

The rest of the Lowe’s parking lot will remain.

Lynnwood Place
3001 184th St SW

This apartment and retail project is on the former location of Lynnwood High School (3001 184th St SW), directly north of Alderwood Mall on 184th Street Southwest. The high school moved in 2009 to its new location east of the Lynnwood city limits, and the old school was demolished in 2010. The old location is still owned by the Edmonds School District, which is leasing the land to developer Cypress Equities. The anchor tenant is a Costco located at the north end of the site. Since last visiting the site in June 2013, two proposed land-use signs were installed, but no site work has occurred.

East of Lynnwood Place, this extended-stay hotel project is located across the street from a Residence Inn by Marriott, another extended-stay hotel. The site formerly consisted of a few older houses and trees. The hotel is planned to open in May 2014.
